Fears Indonesian Female Circumcision Guidelines Could Increase Practice

West Java. Guidelines on how to perform female genital mutilation/cutting issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Health could cause an increase in the practice, medical experts and rights groups fear.

And so, despite the commitments of government towards violence against women and upholding the dignity and rights of women, we still see FGM/C being practiced. What I find completely puzzling is the need for human beings to own the body of others. Is there no bodily autonomy in the region? Or women's bodies are merely possessions of the institutions?
