My first visit to Narathiwat

Azan, the call for prayer for the Muslims. Breaking fast with people living in the slums and the nearby fishing village. Ramadan, South Thailand, in a province called Narathiwat, where simple folks live, wrecked by daily acts of barbarism.

Narathiwat is a heavily fortified town, where armed soldiers, many are young men, stand alert at road barricades and roadsides. No smiles, merely darting eyes.

At times, one would wonder why such violence visits upon the folks. My outreach will take me deeper to the essence of the people who proudly call this province their home.
