Perseverance in the face of a Thai flood

Image
Floods have hit 15 provinces of Thailand. Relief workers, from community-based groups, the military and government, are working to save lives and reduce the impact of damage to homes and land. A challenge yet at this point of time its not a repeat of the 2011 "great flood" of Thailand.

Floods in Thailand's northeastern province

Image
Surin, one of the northeastern provinces of Thailand, with Cambodia to the south. Now ravaged by floods. Photos courtesy of a community-based group, Surin108, that is for and by folks in Surin province. The floodis said to be the worse in 40 years, affecting rural communities and their farms. Some Thai friends told me that Surin is popular with its sizable population of elephants and "elephant farms" while the rural people are poor, working in farms and rough terrains in the province.

Scuttlebutt, disturbing as decay and death of reason

Image
Bangkok, wet from the daily downpour and affected by some overwhelming excitement. The city becomes an intense public interest, with the usual crippling grumbles of wet clothes, enthusiasm of keeping shoes dry and shrieking of traffic congestion where murky cold water flow under stagnant vehicles.
Shaking this overbearing feeling. For today I'm tired, of the bitching, oh aye, that right of people to open their mouths to gossip and complain with thick drool almost dripping at the corner of their wet lips. I beginning to think that people, here and there, enjoy this perverted style of communicating, if only, perhaps, to just see the reaction of others. Or to build the intensity of sustaining a lie.

Perempuan Kepanasan

Ahh realiti, selalu merimaskan
Lihat aja, dari hal paling mudah
Buang sampah sudah payah
Sampai ke pentadbiran negara makin jadi sampah
Monyet-monyet di parlimen
Banyak cakap, tak da adap
Nyanyian sumbang  yg dah basi busuk masih aja didendangkan
Masih aja dilayan para obsesi, ekstrimis janji palsu
Para pejuang mengatas-namakan kononnya untuk ‘kemanusiaan’ dan ‘tuhan’
Yang Kalian kitar semula hanyalah  hanyir politik hipokrit kehidupan

Aku perempuan, banyak hal yg aku pikirkan

Esok seperti hari2 biasa,
Menyiapkan kopi, mencium kamu dan cari rezeki.

Lelah aku mengeluh
Setiap hari, sebetulnya adakah yg peduli
Mengeluh ttg harga bara…

Offspring of Ultra Nationalism, that Poisonous Insurrection

Image
A violent uprising against the Thai government. A bloodied day of adrenaline and killings, for sides that seem to blur with incomprehension, full of raging and running militants, policemen and soldiers. But this fight, this war, against the so-called "Siam colonists" doesn't delay the atrocious onslaught on the civilian population. Ultra-nationalist, these dreadful Pattani-Melayu, them Muslim militants are even murdering Muslim civilians, in malicious pleasure to dominate the common folks. Naked brutality, the froth of contempt, they slay more.

Bangkok Underwater - Reloaded

Image
Hellish for riders and drivers, the downpour is a reminder by nature of what urban administrators should be doing. But naturally this bullshit happens on a regular basis, when idiotic officials sit in their comfortable offices and wait for another opportunity to whack the residents of taxes, all in the name of some fucked flood prevention projects. I wonder whether people make money from the hardship faced by others?

By the way, what the fuck is happening with the 100 km "smart tunnel"? Or has the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration forgot about their initial boasts of some intelligent design to fight the floods in their precious city?

Faking ignorance, society neglects street kids, as usual

Image
Painful truth, street kids will continue wandering the roads, the back lanes and in full view of the luxurious offices of the United Nations, the grand Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the heart of corporate hedonism. It's not as if local authorities and fancy suits from the UN are unaware of urban child poverty, they know, just like the congested population of this mega city, everyone knows.
Question is whether they continue pretending ignorance or point fingers at others, hoping to deflect the blame, or, do something proactive about the situation by engaging marginalized children in decision-making process and equipping them with life skills?
What do you think?

Kita Sama Beza

Aku bunga rumput
Yang kau tak lihat
Yang kau injak
Yang kau potong
Sebab kelihatan semak
Aku tidak bangga dgn bangsaku
Yang mana org kata banyak istimewanya
Padahal kita sama-sama merana
Kau buatku sama saja
Dari darah dan tulang
Yang mana kita dicipta oleh sang Pencipta
Yang hanya tau pentingnya
Berbezaan dan hidup bersama
Buatku yang mebezakan aku dan kamu
Kalau kau menindas
Kalau kau hipokrit
Kalau kau korupsi
Kalau kau menghina org lain kerana berbeza
Kalau kau lebih kaya dan ok menyiksa
Kalau kau diskriminasi pada sesuatu yg berbeza
Dan merasa diri benar dan tau segala
Jangan menghina orang
Kerna beza kulit, rambut dan mata
Apalagi kepercayaan yang berbeza
Atau kerna bahasa dan budaya kita tidak sama
Kerana memang kita diciptakankan
Setiap dari kita berbeza
Dan tidak pernah sama
Kalau kau merasa terhina

Slaughtering in the name of the unknown
